Hello Everyone,
Composing came to me later in life and I believe once one begins it is very hard to let go. Melodies don't chase me but once I sit at the piano it becomes difficult to not want to chase them. The challenge of writing a ' gem' is looking:) [ btw Rada is the short version of Radmila, a Serbian name].
I also started composing later in life and my experience is very similar to yours.
Thank you for sharing this! Creating and composing most often takes shape after trying and discovering different angles to approach composing. I think the most crucial part is to find your own ways to be creative and follow those rules. And at the same time when you crash into "writers block" give yourself time to heal and be experimental and try different and unusual ways to approach music.
That's great. whatever makes you want to compose, go for that. some people wait for inspiration to sit and compose, some go for walks in nature, some sit and force themselves to compose. Anything is good as long as you're happy with it! :)
In my case a lot of ideas come when i'm not sitting at the piano BUT i need to push myself to sit and be consistent in order to finish those ideas.. i tend to jump from idea to idea and not always finish my pieces so.. that's not so good. but i'm working on it! trying to focus on 1-2 pieces at a time and force myself to finish them and move on.
