Suspicious playlist

Hi all. The last 2 days I've had very high figures for my music. After checking spotify for artists, it seems as if one of my tracks has been added to a dodgy playlist. It's called Lyrical Lunacy and after checking through the list I can see a few other members of the community are featured here as well.

In fairness, the tracks actually don't seem to be a random mess as they are mostly piano pieces but the usual signs of a bot playlist show up.

Has anyone heard of this playlist before or reported it? Here is a link to the playlist

It's always a shame to see nice high numbers and find out it's basically all fake!

I literally haven't heard of this playlist until now but you can tell it's fake since it doesn't have a cover pic or description despite it being a 'big' playlist. Plus all the streams come from just one location which is pretty dodgy if you ask me. I really don't get why these types of playlists are around to begin with, if only there was a way to get Spotify to remove them asap

Whether it's a bot or not; Repostng.com is a service that offers guaranteed playlist placement with their OWN curators for a certain payment. That's what is called payola (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Payola).

But apparently they're starting to get you interested by putting your song on their playlist unsolicited. Very smart...

Sites like Submithub or Groover work differently; there you pay for the service of the platform and INDEPENDANT curators are then free to decide whether or not to place your track.

So basically they are trying to hook you in these days as a taster and if you don't contact them they will move your track on. Streams back to normal now so I guess I've been taken off!

That's strange... i know that a lot of bot generated playlists will give you A LOT of streams and then suddently, once you get a taste of that, they offer to continue supporting your music for a fee. so basically they try to hook artists. I don't trust them and i don't want any of that... i'm not sure if there's a way to ask to be removed or to report to spotify.... (if it's really a bot playlist of course)

So far I have not had any pay to play request from the bot playlist. My track was there for a week. Still, it was cool to see higher numbers.

How do the Spotify algorithmic playlists work? One of my tracks is getting streams because of algorithm. I am not complaining, but I wish my other singles could also get some algorithmic love...

That's a mystery... have no idea how algorithmic playlists really work... just take it and hope for the best! 😆

I've never been chased up by a promo company yet. I contacted spotify and they can't do anything but have flagged it up. Pretty sure it's dodgy as I now Helsinki has quadruple the amount of streams then any other city! I never answer people that approach me on IG asking to promote my music. Just FB ads and submithub. Generally safer that way!

I had a lot of streams from Helsinki in the past month. The playlist was called Weekly Discovery or something like that.

Unfortunately yes. It's a bot playlist as well. I've been on it briefly. @Athana Siva brought it to our attention a couple of months back and then I had my music added. I've contacted spotify for both of these occasions and there's not a lot they can do but at least it is highlighted with them so they know you're not trying to promote with bots. Usually you get taken off the playlist within a couple of days.

Oh yes one of my pieces was added to that playlist a while back and received bot streams from Helsinki as well. Although it got taken off after a few days, these streams weren't deducted from the overall stream count sadly 😔
