I agree that perfectionism must not work like a cage. But I think it's something positive which drives a composer or pianist to become better. A good balance between satisfaction and perfectionism is crucial: satisfaction encourages, but too much is killing self-criticism. Perfection can be a torture, but for me it's a perfect driver to new creativity.
