Has somebody already tested / uses the Spotify Discovery mode?
Andrew Southworth made a video about it.
For those who haven't heard: it's an own spotify promotional tool that may increases your radio streams, but discreases your income on those ones. I haven't tested it yet.
Somehow those tools always feel a bit forced for me when you pop up in the next song without really being algorithm based recommended and if everybody is using it, it can get lower in the impact logically.
And those who don't, might fall off in the radio streams.
Anyway, may also be pushing. Any experience is welcome :)
best, kjell
update: I just noticed, it's not available (for me) anymore. I have seen the option in my dashboard before though. Maybe got limited/exclusive again?

I think it's not only a matter of streams increase, but what's the cost vs earnings. If you invest 1 euro or dollar, how much streams do you need to get to win this back. I didn't try, but with actual relatively low Spotify earnings per stream I doubt if the model could work on ROI...
I’ve been using discovery mode, it’s a facility offered via Soothe Sounds. I don’t know if it’s the result of releasing with a niche distributor or discovery mode itself but I’ve seen a lift in streams. And most importantly my monthly listeners has almost doubled! If discovery mode means more listeners will discover you then I would say it works 😊🤷🏽♂️
Hi guys. I’ve tried discovery mode for a few months now. My findings are that listeners are rising on radio play - reasonably well. It’s noticeable that streams have risen more the more months I’ve concurrently run discovery mode. Is this deliberate I wonder?
I haven’t had many negative impacts on stream lift. Not really got my head around the how’s and why it happens. However, it leaves me feeling like if I decide not to run a discovery mode package one month my streams could fall. Again, I wonder if this is a deliberate ploy on Spotify’s behalf?!
To be honest, i've heard from quite a lot of people and i'm not convinced that it's worth it. Personally, if i'm going to spend money on promoting my music, i will spend it on facebook ads. (instagram)
I have a campaign running this October. So far my Radio- and Autoplay streams dropped 25% for the selected tracks 😂
I made a campaign for November with my pieces that appear poorly in playlists. I can then tell you in December if it worked.
