Hey guys.
I was looking up on how can i send my music for movies, shows and commercials. I found that there are many music libraries which i can submit my music to, for a chance to be accepted.
Have any of you ever submitted your music to these libraries? Or has anyone ever had their music placed in movies, TV shows or commercials? If yes, how did you do it? Because it's something I'd like to do in the future, as I think the music I make could have many opportunities for placement in movies or TV shows. I could also compose orchestral pieces, but I don't know exactly who to send it to.
I hope I can share some valuable information. First thing I suggest is joining the Facebook group "A composers guide to library music' hosted by Dan Graham, composer and owner of Gothic Storm and other sublabels. Beside this forum, one of the most informative and healthy online communities. If you browse the forum, you will find all the information you need. I have submitted music to libraries (solo piano and cinematic/underscore) recently and so far two piano tracks have been released. Some were rejected, some are pending others accepted and being processed. It always is a long shot. I wouldn't suggest using epidemic sound. They offer somewhat shady conditions and keep most of future royalties, which should go to you. I would definitely go for exclusive libraries, they usually have higher earning and syncing potential but usually require a higher standard than non-exclusive libraries. You might have to change your style of composing a bit since library music needs specific design to be usable on TV (interesting but not too prominent, editable etc.).
If you have further questions, feel free to ask. I hope I will be able to help out (definitely not an expert here...check out the group on FB, they know so much more and are very helpful).
Best, Philipp
I don't know much about this at all.. but what about musicbed and epidepic sound? I know by using one of those your music can be picked up and used in commercials, movies, videos, etc but i have no experience with them!
That's actually a good question!! Hope someone answers
