If there's one thing i've heard from many composers, including Einaudi, Alexis Ffrench, Fabrizio Paterlini and more, it's that you can't always (if ever) predict how one of your pieces will be received. They even said how frustrating this can be sometimes when you have high expectations on a release and it doesn't perform the way you thought it would.
A lot of times, we put so much work and effort on a special release, only to find out that it didn't perform very well. Other times, you release a piece without any expectations and that you put little effort on it, and it blows up!
It makes me reflect on how many pieces or ideas i put aside, thinking they were not too good, when in reality you can never know with how many people it will resonate with.
