I have a question for those who have had the pleasure of being featured in any editorial playlist on spotify.
How long after the song was released, did you get the email from spotify that that song was included in one or more playlists?
I have read around the internet some who said that it takes 2 weeks maximum, others said up to two months. So I would like to actually understand how long it usually takes from the release date of the song to being included in a playlist, and if there is a deadline for my hope hahaha
So how can I get my music to an algorithmic playlist? The streaming world is very new to me, so any advice is appreciated.
To be honest I wouldn't get too hung up on the Editorial Playlists. They are a wonderful bonus to get on to, but you are better building your releases stage by stage and unlocking the algorithmic playlists over time. These aren't often spoken about, but from our experience Spotify Radio and Your Daily Mix far out perform many of the editorial playlists. Any Editorial playlist ads are a wonderful achievement, but we've been surprised by how powerful the Algorithmic playlists actually are.
Hey Elia, once the playlist refreshes you will hear within maybe 1-2 days with an email. Sometimes though you will notice you’re on a playlist by just checking the actual
playlist prior to receiving an email about it. I’ve noticed most of the big playlists usually refresh later in the week and usually every 1-2 weeks. At the moment though I believe the curators may be on a break for summer because it is taking longer than usual. Some playlists may even take up to a month or longer to refresh. I had a release get featured on ‘Spring Piano’ and ‘Feel good piano’ which was released three weeks prior, but it only landed on the playlist once it had been updated. You can see if you go on Spotify on desktop when playlists were last updated.
Hope that helps clarifying!
