Hi everyone. I had a quick question about distrokid and it's legacy feature. A long time ago I made a charity album for a family friend who passed away with germ cell cancer. At the time, the main name out there for indie artists was CD baby which I used for the release.
Obviously, when I came back to releasing music again things had changed with so many other distributors around but I found it easier at the time to put out my album with CD baby rather than have something else to worry about. I always planned to turn to distrokid though in the new year.
My next few releases are lined up with DK now but the one thing that bothers me still is the legacy issue and having my music taken down when the time comes (a lovely thought I know). I don't know why it bothers me about having my music there when I'm not here but I guess it's just that piece of art that is still their for future generations thing! (Sorry - mid life crisis moment!)
However, looking into it more, is it possible to put out your music for the year and at the end of it, bundle all the singles and EP's onto an album/collection with a couple other tunes and pay the one legacy fee for an album? I don't mind this as it's only £40 as a one off that year.
I was just wondering what anyone else's view or use of the legacy feature was. It's my only real bugbear with the set up of DK at the moment.
